Azerbaijani President: "Armenia can not be friendly to Muslim countries, destroying mosques that are sacred to Muslims"

"There is no progress in resolving the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Garabagh, which is Azerbaijan's most excruciating problem due to Armenia’s destructive policy," President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said at the VII Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States, APA reports.

The head of state said that Armenia has been aggressively pursuing aggression against Azerbaijan for nearly 30 years, violating the norms and principles of international law: “Ethnic cleansing policies are being pursued in the occupied territories, and about one million of our compatriots have become refugees and internally displaced people (IDP).The historical-cultural heritage, Islamic monuments, and mosques were destroyed in those areas.

Armenia tries to build close cooperation with Muslim countries. However, Armenia, which destroys mosques that are sacred to the Muslims of the world, cannot be friends with Muslim states. This vandalism against our religion reflects Armenia's Islamophobic nature".

President Ilham Aliyev stated that 4 resolutions of the UN Security Council were adopted related to the conflict: “Unconditional and full withdrawal of invader forces from Azerbaijani territories is unequivocally required in these resolutions. Non-Alignment Movement, the OSCE, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, NATO,
European Parliament, the Council of Europe, and other organizations have adopted similar decisions and resolutions at the same time. Armenia neglects requirements of these resolutions and decisions, and ignore implementation of legal obligations of international law.”

Head of state noted that Nagorno Karabakh is eternal and historical land, and inseparable part of Azerbaijan: “The conflict should be solved in accordance with norms and principles of international law in the framework of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Support for territorial integrity, sovereignty, and inviolability of boundaries of the states is regularly expressed in final resolutions of the Summits of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking Countries too. Taking the advantage, I extend my gratitude to Azerbaijan’s partners, supporting fair solution of the conflict in the framework of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.”
