16 people died, 55 people injured in emergency incidents occurred in Azerbaijan this year

The statistics of the emergency incidents occurred in Azerbaijan this year have been disclosed, the Ministry of Emergency Situations told APA.

During I quarter of 2020, 4,040 natural disasters and industrial accidents occurred on the country’ territory which is 2,000 incidents or 98% more as compared with I quarter of 2019. As a result of the occurred natural disasters and industrial accidents, 16 people have died, 55 people have been injured. Some 7 people have been rescued and 262 people have been evacuated by the ministry’s rescuers.

The report says the number of investigated fires was 624 from the total fire accidents occurred during I quarter of 2020. During the fire accidents, 16 people died, while 37 people were injured which is 13 people or 45% less as compared with number of people died in fires last year, and 12 people or 24% less as compared with the number of people injured in fires last year.

During I quarter of 2020, 13 explosion accidents occurred on the country’s territory which is 10 accidents or 43% less as compared with I quarter of 2019.

Some 18 people were injured during the explosions.
