Azerbaijan's SSS releases information on operation at MFA, 3 persons arrested- VIDEO

Public Relations Department of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan has released broad information on the operation, conducted in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, APA reports citing SBS's website.

On the basis of information received by the State Security Service that some officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic (MFA) intentionally abused their powers and committed many illegal actions, thereby causing significant damage to the state’s interests protected by law, investigative and operational measures were taken.

Information was studied on the appropriation of state funds intended to support the activities of certain structures of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, receiving bribes, including in connection with visa applications from citizens of foreign countries, as well as information on the commission of other illegal actions. Farhad Mollazade, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ affairs department, the chairman of the Ministry’s tender commission, Salim Alizadeh, the economic affairs department’s economic department head, and Nurupasha Abdullayev, head of the consular and legal department of the Consular Department, are suspected of committing illegal actions.

Farhad Mollazade and Selim Alizadeh were brought as accused on the facts of abuse of power, misappropriation, bribery, Nurupasha Abdullaev - on the fact of receiving bribes. According to the court, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen in respect of them.

Investigative and operational measures in the criminal case are ongoing.
