Baku-Shamakhi road closed due to snow, ice and blizzard

Movement of traffics on the Baku-Shamakhi-Yevlakh road has become more difficult due to heavy snowfall since last night, APA’s local bureau reports.

A lot of cars have remained on the road due to blizzard and icing on the part of Baku-Shamakhi road passing through the Gobustan region at present.The snow brought by the strong wind from the mountains completely covered the road, and the movement of cars sliding on the ice stopped. Employees of the traffic patrol service of the Main State Traffic Police Office closed checkpoints on the Baku-Shamakhi road in Narimankend village and Shamakhi city of Gobustan at about 13:30 today to prevent accidents.

Equipment and personnel of the road maintenance department are involved in the area, salt and sand are sprinkled on the road. However, due to the blizzard, it was not possible to clear most of the highway from snow and ice.
