Criminal case initiated at Azerbaijan's General Prosecutor’s Office based on Ombudsman’s appeal

The supporting of the economic reforms implemented in the country by the measures of fighting against corruption is constantly kept in the center of attention by the prosecution agencies in the framework of the authorities assigned to them by the legislation, and the implementation of the consistent measures in the fight against the senior state officials committed corruption offenses is being continued in the way of coordination with the concerned state agencies.

The Press Service of the General Prosecutor’s Office told APA that in continuation of these measures, in the times when the state structures have been mobilized in the area of protection of people’s health, and organization of official activities in other spheres, the information about committing by some senior state officials of the unlawful actions causing damage to the legally protected interests of citizens and the state and casting shade on the activity of state agencies by abusing the existing situation in their own interests are investigated and the measures for bringing them to legal responsibility are being taken.

The materials submitted by the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Azerbaijan Republic and related to the law offenses committed by the senior state officials have been received by the General Prosecutor’s Office.

The grounded suspicions have been determined in regard to appropriation of monetary funds in the amount of AZN 10,500 by Ismayil Mansurov, head of Nizami district Housing and Utility Operation Area # 117 who by abusing his official position deceived a citizen by promising him to officially endorse the documents regarding the construction of the accessory building to that citizen’s house as a result of the investigations conducted by the Main Department for Fight against Corruption under General prosecutor’s office.

The criminal case has been initiated into this incident by the Main Department for Fight against Corruption under the General prosecutor’s office based on clauses 178.2.3 and 178.2.4 of the Criminal Code.

Currently, the necessary investigative and operational measures are being continued in regard to the determination of the circle of the guilty persons by fully and comprehensively investigating all unlawful actions under this case.
