Video footage depicting the burning of the body of Azerbaijani Armed Forces’ military serviceman by the military servicemen of Armenian armed forces and one civilian person has been disseminated in some mass media and social media pages, the Prosecutor General’s Office told APA.
As the analysis conducted by the Prosecutor General's Office and the Military Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan revealed that the video reflected the reality, a criminal case was initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The necessary investigative and operational measures will be taken in the criminal case to determine the perpetrators, all possible measures will be taken to bring them to justice within the framework of the existing legal mechanisms and norms of international law.
At the same time, despite the fact that criminal cases were initiated in the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with such video recordings, relevant investigations were carried out, and detailed information was provided to the public, unfortunately, the Armenian side does not conduct investigations into the facts of committing crimes against Azerbaijani military personnel and civilians, does not take any measures to punish those who committed crimes.
The General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan calls on the law enforcement bodies of Armenia to take serious legal action, conduct an open and fair investigation of war crimes against the citizens of Azerbaijan, and inform the world community.
