The Prosecutor General's Office and the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Azerbaijan has issued a joint statement on the incident in front of the Milli Majlis building in Baku yesterday, APA reports.
As it is known, on July 12, the Armenian armed forces carried out a military provocation in the direction of Tovuz region of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border, using heavy machine guns, sniper rifles, artillery and fired at our positions, as well as civilians and civilian objects.
The heroic officers and soldiers of the Azerbaijani Army resolutely prevented this provocation, retaliating and destroyed the enemy's strongholds, firing points, reserves in the depths of defense, a large number of military equipment and manpower. At present, the operational conditions in the area of the fighting are under the full control of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
In the face of this military provocation of Armenia, the Azerbaijani people once again showed their unity, determination and uncompromising position against the enemy, our heroic martyrs were buried in large crowds, marches in support of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces were held in various cities and regions.
The march and meeting held in Baku on July 14 once again demonstrated the full support of the Azerbaijani people to their state, army, and Supreme Commander-in-Chief. Aggressive Armenia must understand that the patience of the Azerbaijani people is not infinite and it will never reconcile with the occupation of its territories. According to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the blood of our fallen servicemen has not remained and will not remain.
Regrettably, during this campaign going on in a peaceful and patriotic spirit, a group of provocateurs committed actions resulting in blatant violation of public order, showed resistance and applied force to the police officers ensuring the security of the campaign, and consequently, the bodily injuries of various degrees were inflicted on several police officers, and serious damage was caused on the service vehicles.
As the numerous warnings made by the police officers were ignored, the public order was restored by the operative measures taken for the prevention of further escalation of the situation.
The criminal case has been launched into this incident, and the investigative and operational measures are being implemented.
