Drivers who take to the streets without permission over the weekend may face arrest in some regions of Azerbaijan

In connection with toughening of special quarantine regime on the territory of Baku, Sumgait, Ganja, Lankaran cities and Absheron region, during the two days’ lockdown, the police will work in the enhanced work mode as previously, said the head of the Public relations office of the Main State Road Police Department, police colonel Kamran Aliyev in his statement to APA.

He said only the accident, rescue, emergency medical aid vehicles and the restricted number of employees of the agencies whose functioning is permitted may move freely: "Meanwhile, those persons may move only on service vehicles. In other words, any person whose working is permitted is banned from using his personal car. During lockdown, the movement of taxis, buses and other personal passenger cars is also not allowed. A person who passed registration on "Icaze.gov.az" portal and received official permission for his working can use any other car except for the service car owned by the enterprise where he works".

K. Aliyev also noted the person, who use individual car during the restriction decision, will be brought to responsibility relevant to requirement of the legislation: “According to the requirements of Article 211 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (Violation of anti-epidemics, sanitary-hygiene, and quarantine regimes), individuals may be fined in the amount of AZN 100-200, authorities will be fined in the amount of AZN 1500-2000 or administrative imprisonment of up to a month, by taking into consideration personality of the committer, relevant to cases of the issue, while legal entities in the amount of AZN 2000-5000.”
