Emergency incidents claimed 70 lives in Azerbaijan over the last year

Some 16571 incidents arising from natural and technology-related causes occurred on the country’s territory during 2019, APA reports citing the annual statistical data of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The report reads this is 1,107 incidents or 7% more as compared with 2018. As a result of the occurred incidents arising from natural and technology-related causes 70 people were killed, and 338 people were injured. Some 63 people were rescued and 1,228 were evacuated by the ministry’s rescuers. 

During 2019, some 172 incidents arising from natural causes were recorded on the country’s territory, and 2 fatal casualties were recorded.

The report says during the incidents arising from natural causes, 2 people were rescued and 136 people were evacuated by the ministry’s rescuers.

During 2019, some 16,399 incidents arising from technology related causes were recorded on the country’s territory which is 1,090 incidents or 7% more as compared with 2018.

As a result of the incidents arising from technology related causes 68 people were killed, and 338 people were injured. And this is 37 people or 35% less in regard to the killed people and 107 people or 46% more in regard to the injured people as compared with 2018.

Some 61 people were rescued and 1,092 people were evacuated by the ministry’s rescuers.
