The Interior Ministry of the Republic of Azerbaijan has responded to the disseminated reports about detaining arrest and beating blogger Mehman Huseynov by police.

Ehsan Zahidov, head of the press service of the MIA told APA that the allegations that M. Huseynov was beaten by police are completely groundless: "Mehman Huseynov and a group of his supporters in the center of the city, on Fountain Square, began chanting slogans for the release of Parviz Guluzadeh, who was arrested by the court in the center of the capital, around 22:00 pm last night. Mehman Huseynov and the people around him were deported for ignoring the lawful call of the police. But his statement that he was beaten by the police is completely groundless. If Mehman Huseynov was later beaten, he has the right to appeal to the law enforcement agencies. If they apply, it will be investigated. ”
