The court proceedings for the criminal case of Aghayev Ilgar Ershad, Ibrahimov Sahil Fahrad, and Mammadov Namig Natig accused of financing terrorism have ended at Baku Grave Crimes Court, APA reports.
The sentence has been pronounced at the court proceeding chaired by judge Zeynal Aghayev.
Based on the sentence, Sahil Ibrahimov and Ilgar Aghayev were imprisoned for 12 years, and Namig Mammadov – for 11 years.
Note that during the ongoing complex investigations conducted at the State Security Service (SSS) in the area of combating terrorism, the secret financing of the persons committing terrorist actions by taking part in the armed conflicts waged beyond the borders of the Azerbaijan Republic as the members of the religious extremist criminal association recognized as a terrorist organization by the United Nations Organization has been revealed.
It has been determined that in order to materially support the members of the terrorist organization waging armed conflicts on the territory of Syria and to ensure their criminal activities, beginning from October, 2017, the citizens of the Azerbaijan Republic Aghayev Ilgar Ershad, Ibrahimov Sahil Fahrad, and Mammadov Namig Natig and others ensured the regular dispatch and delivery in various ways to the members of the terrorist organization functioning on the territory of Syria of the monetary funds in the total amount of over US$ 500,000 including the monetary funds sent by the members of the terrorist organization from various countries and the monetary funds obtained from members of families of the participants of those armed conflicts by preliminarily establishing contact with them. The mentioned persons were brought to criminal responsibility, and the pre-trial measure in the form of remand in custody was chosen in regard to them based on the court’s decision.
