On the territory of the village of Gushchu, Shamakhi region, a volcano erupted, APA's local bureau reports.

Before the volcanic eruption, there was a loud roar in the territory.

Then lava, erupting from the crater of the volcano for 15 minutes, spilled onto the soil surface over an area of ​​2 hectares. The volcanic lava has risen to a height of about 60-70 m. During the current eruption, no fire, characteristic of mud volcanoes, was observed. The eruption has stopped, and a sharp smell of gas is felt in the area of ​​the eruption. Houses are located 150 m from the eruption zone. According to the villagers, this is the first eruption of this volcano. There is another volcano 2 km from the eruption zone, which erupted 3 years ago. As a result of the eruption, the crops of the villagers became unusable, cracks appeared on the walls of 3 houses. In the zone of the volcanic eruption, tectonic faults appeared on the soil.

The Gushchu volcano in Azerbaijan's Shamakhi region erupted, the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS told APA.
