Woman disseminating false information on coronavirus arrested in Azerbaijan

A woman being a user of What’s app social network, not making any reference to the official information of any state agency, disseminated by means of that network the fictitious information which does not reflect the reality and could create confusion in the society, telling that the situation with coronavirus pandemic is severe on the territory of Azerbaijan’s Shamkir region, the seven members of the family arrived in the Azerbaijan Republic from Marneuli region of the Georgian Republic have contracted this virus and have transmitted the virus to other citizens, the Ganja regional group of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) told APA.

The investigation has been launched at Shamkir Regional Police Department into the abovementioned voice recording.

As a result of the relevant measures taken, that woman was identified to be Elmira Mammad Mammadova, born in 1979 and living in Ganja city and she was summoned to relevant District Police Department.

As it was determined by the conducted investigations that the actions committed by E. Mammadova contains the attributes of the offence stipulated in clause 388.1 (placement on an internet information resource of an information banned from dissemination over information and telecommunication network) of the Administrative Offences Code, the collected materials regarding her have been sent to the district court in order to give legal appraisal to her action, and the court has chosen administrative pre-trial detention measure in the form of remand in custody in regard to that woman.
