Fire breaks out in mountainous area of Azerbaijan’s Yardimli, helicopter involved - UPDATED

Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR) released information regarding the fire at Yardimli district, APA reports citing MENR.

Fire occurred at the higher mountainous forestry area of the Lazir village of the Yardimli district on August 21 in night hours have been localized by local agencies of MENR, employees of the fire protection service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and local population using hand labour, and prevented to be spread to around areas. The area covered by the fire was high and sloping so that fire extinguisher vehicles could not reach the area. Helicopter of the aviation team of the Ministry of Emergency Situation involved in extinguishing the fire.

Firdovsi Aliyev, deputy minister who was in the scene stated that majority of fires set up by negligence of people, unsafe handling of fire and sometimes deliberately: “We will do our best with the relevant authorities for preventing such situations and bring culprits to the justice”.

“112” Call Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan has received information on fire, broke out in the mountainous area nearby Lyazir village of Yardimli region on August 21, APA reports citing website of the Ministry.

A helicopter of Aviation Team of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and equipment and relevant forces of the State Fire Control Department have been involved in the site.
