A 16-year old IDP from Azerbaijan’s Fuzuli district, Maarif Aliyev, who is residing in Baku’s Sabunchu district, shot his 38-year old mother Madina Gurbanova to death while she was sleeping.
The incident was recorded in the dormitory settled by internally displaced persons in Baku's Zabrat-2 settlement, the district prosecutor’s office told APA.
Aliyev voluntarily surrendered to the police and handed over his grandfather’s shotgun.
In his testimony, Aliyev confessed to shooting his mother to death, noting that he committed the murder ‘in the name of honor’.
A criminal case has been initiated on the murder.
