At least 20 people were injured when a plane crashed Tuesday at an airport north of South Africa's capital Pretoria, ER24, a private emergency medical service, confirmed, APA reports quoting local media.

Spokesperson Russel Meiring told reporters “they were on the scene, treating the injured." He said injuries range from minor to critical.

Details of the crash at Wonderboom Airport are still sketchy, but the civil aviation authority said they have sent investigators to the scene.

Unconfirmed local media reports are claiming one person critically injured in the crash has died.

Helicopters are on the scene airlifting critically injured passengers. The plane labeled Martin's Air Charter is reported to be owned by MAC, a Dutch cargo company.
