Azerbaijan’s State Security Service (SSS) has eliminated Yashar Javadov, suspected of planning a terrorist attack in the country, the State Service said in a statement on Monday.
The counter-terrorism investigation revealed that Azerbaijani citizen Yashar Javadov had joined a religious extremist terrorist organization involved in armed conflicts beyond Azerbaijan. Upon return to Azerbaijan he had received funds from the mentioned group, acquired firearms and explosives, and was planning to commit an attack against a state institution.
As a result of immediate operational-investigative measures taken in Ismayilli district on Aug. 27 in line with the criminal case initiated by the SSS, Yashar Javadov was killed after giving an armed resistance.
