Azerbaijan initiates criminal case over death of five people from carbon monoxide poisoning

A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the death of five people from carbon monoxide poisoning in Azerbaijan under Article 314.2 (negligence committed on imprudence and entailed death of the victim or other heavy consequences) of the country’s Criminal Code, the Prosecutor General’s Office told APA.

Appropriate forensic examination and forensic technical safety expertise have been appointed on the fatal carbon monoxide poisoning case.

Five female bodies were found in an apartment in the town of Khirdalan, Azerbaijan on early Wednesday. They are believed to have died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The victims are identified as Abbasova Melek (born in 1992), Balakan district residents Musayeva Nubar (born in 1974), Khanlayeva Turana (born in 2000), Khanlayeva Lamiya (born in 1999) and Musayeva Ayten (born in 1993).

Necessary investigative measures are underway into the fact.
