Azerbaijan’s custom officers have prevented the smuggling of large sums of foreign currency from the country to Turkey.

An Azerbaijani citizen was detained at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku while attempting to smuggle 26,000 US dollars (261 banknotes per value of $100, two 50-dollar banknotes, thirteen 20-dollar banknotes and fourteen 10-dollar banknotes) via Baku-Istanbul flight, the State Customs Committee’s press service told APA on Feb. 4.

Investigative actions are ongoing on the case.
