Resident of Azerbaijan’s Zagatala district, Rustam Alizade, has committed suicide by hanging himself in his workplace in the Turkish city of Istanbul.

Although the incident happened in March of this year, his family was not notified until a few days ago, APA has learned.

His family says he left the district without telling anyone about his destination. His close ones thought he had gone to Russia for work. On March 17, however, the family received the news of his death from the Azerbaijani Embassy in Turkey. The deceased’s father took off to Turkey after hearing the terrible news.

Investigations revealed that the suicide took place on March 7. The body was buried in a cemetery of the nameless because no one appeared to identify it in 14 days.

The deceased’s father has been in talks with Turkish authorities for the past few days in order for the body to be sent back to Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan’s Consulate General in Istanbul told APA’s Turkey bureau that consulate officials met with the father and gave him guidance as to what should be done for the body to be sent to Azerbaijan.

“The consulate has done all it could about this matter and will continue to do so,” the consulate said.
