Azerbaijani emergency situations minister arrives at accident site in Caspian Sea

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel General Kemaleddin Heydarov, together with SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev, are currently at the site where a flyover at the oil-gathering station #3 of the department on oil and gas output of Azneft Production Union was blown away by strong wind on Dec.15, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) said in a statement on Dec. 16.

 

The minister and the SOCAR president are having discussions with heads of concerned bodies involved in the search operation for the missing oilmen.

 

The accident took place at about 05:00 (UTC/GMT+4), on Dec. 15, due to strong wind, which blew away a part of a flyover of a 150-meter long oil-gathering station. A board attached to the flyover and a booth on it were also blown away.

 

Nine persons went missing as a result of the accident. 

 

A special group has been created to investigate the accident.
