Headquarters created in State Maritime Administration on accident in Caspian Sea

The Emergency Situations Ministry told APA that a meeting attended by senior officials of the above-mentioned bodies has been held in the ministry in order to further speed up the search of the oilfield workers who went missing as a result of the accident, expand the search area, as well as strengthen the coordination among the state bodies involved in this work under the order signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on December 16, 2016 on “Some measures over recent accident in oil gathering station of SOCAR’s AzNeft Production Union”.

At the meeting, it was decided to create a headquarters in the National Center for Vessel Traffic Management of the State Maritime Administration to fulfill the above-mentioned objectives.

The Headquarters analyzed the weather condition, wind direction and speed of underwater and above-water streams in the site where the accident occurred, and ensured the continuation of the operations in specified coordinates by coastal, sea and air forces.

Besides, the Headquarters will regularly exchange information with all ships including foreign flagged vessels in the site and relevant national centers of the Caspian-littoral countries.

The public will be informed about the measures.
