Baku. Etibar Mammadov – APA. The Baku Court of Grave Crimes on Thursday held a preliminary hearing in the case of former football prayer Mashallah Ahmadov charged with fraud.

At the hearing, the ex-footballer said that a number of motions were filed as the investigation was not conducted properly.

“I was maligned. My right of defense has been violated. I ask the court to return the case back to the preliminary investigation”, added Ahmadov.

The trial will be continued on October 17.

Mashallah Ahmadov was detained in December 2015 on fraud charges.

According to the indictment, the ex-footballer, who is engaged in business in Baku, promised a few persons that he would bring stone plates worth AZN 150 million. However, he didn’t keep his promise and give the money back to those people. Though he had been sentenced to pre-trial detention, the sentence was later commuted to home arrest.
