Shirvan. Alibey Zeynalli – APA. Azerbaijan’s Shirvan district court held on Thursday a preliminary hearing on the appeal filed by former prosecutor of Zardab district Rufat Safarov against the court judgment.
A judicial review of the appeal was scheduled for Dec. 1.
On 15 January 2016, Rufat Safarov, son of the former spokesman for Azerbaijan’s defense ministry, Eldar Sabiroglu, was jailed for four months on bribe charges. On January 22, his sentence was commuted to house arrest.
On September 8, Lankaran Grave Crimes Court sentenced Safarov to nine years in prison. Then, an appeal was filed against the court judgment.
