One missing after fishing boat overturns off Azerbaijan’s Khachmaz

On July 31, the “112” hotline of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) received a call that Ziyaddin Ahmadov, one of the two fishermen who left Sumgayit in the Caspian sea on boat on July 27, went missing.

During investigation carried out by the Crisis Management Center of MES it was revealed that the boat had tipped over near Khachmaz district due to a strong wind.

On the night of July 28, Zaur Farajullayev, born in 1976, was rescued by the vessel “Rasul Hamzatov” in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea and was handed over to the Coast Guard of the State Border Service the following day.

Search measures for Ziyaddin Ahmadov started this morning.

Currently, a group of rescue divers of the State Water Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a Mi-17 helicopter of the ministry’s Aviation Unit are involved in search operations.
