Former Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Tofig Zulfugarov clarified the information about the traffic accident he had committed, APA reported.

The minister said that he was involved in the investigation on the traffic accident as a witness.

“The published information is not true. That person was drunk while passing the road. There is a pedestrian crossing about 10 meters away from the scene. But the pedestrian did not use that crossing. The person got off the bus and began to run on the eight-lane road. He hit the side mirror of the car. Later, the other car hit and killed him. There is also footage reflecting all this. I also gave testimony to the police as a witness. I told everything as it was,” he said.

Zulfugarov also noted that he did not violate the rules. “I underwent a medical examination. I was neither drunk, nor exceeded the speed limit,” he said.

The Interior Ministry released the information about the traffic accident on Sept.15. According to the information, Baku resident Rasim Asgarov hit Imishli resident Ugur Veliyev with his Ford car at 7pm on Sept.14 in Zig highway of Khatai district. Ugur Veliyev died at the scene. Today the information was released that the pedestrian was hit by Tofig Zulfugarov.
