Rebels capture Georgian citizen in Congo

On 27 January, the rebels in the Congo shot down two helicopter Wsati of the country, one of them was ruled by a Georgian Colonel in the reserve Soso Osurauli, APA reported citing Georgian media.

The pilot was captured, and now the rebels asked for his release one million dollars.

According to the Georgian Foreign Ministry, they are in constant contact with the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo to get detailed information and ensure protection of the legal rights of the Georgian citizens.

Soso Osurauli left the armed forces about 10 years ago, but in 2014 he came back. According to the reports, in March 2015 he submitted an application of resignation for the reason of leaving for the Democratic Republic of Congo as he was made a better offer there.

The Georgian ministry stated that no further information is available on the case.
