European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said on Monday the bloc's ambassador in Sudan was "assaulted in his own residency" earlier in the day, APA reports citing Teletrader.
"This constitu[t]es a gross violation of the Vienna Convention. Security of diplomatic premises and staff is a primary responsibility of Sudanese authorities and an obligation under international law," Borrell added.
Earlier, Borrell urged conflicted sides in Sudan to implement a ceasefire and noted it asked both the Sudanese army and the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) "to consider humanitarian pause and to encourage dialogue."
