The final declaration of the NATO Madrid Summit has been adopted, APA reports citing the NATO website.

"NATO declared Russia the “most significant and direct threat” to its members’ peace and security, as the military alliance met Wednesday to confront what NATO’s chief called the biggest security crisis since World War II," statement made at the NATO Summit in Madrid today reads, APA reports.

It also promised to “step up political and practical support” to Ukraine as it fights off Russia’s invasion.

"NATO's new strategic concept has been approved," NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg wrote on Twitter, APA reports.

"NATO leaders have just agreed on a new Strategic Concept, the blueprint for our Alliance in a more competitive world," he stated.
