United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres " firmly condemns the ongoing coup" in Gabon, a spokesperson of the global institution said on Wednesday, APA reports citing Teletrader.
"The UN Secretary-General is closely following the evolving situation in Gabon. He took note with deep concern of the announced election results amid reports of serious violations of fundamental freedoms," Stephane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, said.
Guterres also took the opportunity to call all parties to "exercise restraint" and to "engage" in a dialogue to ensure that "human rights are fully respected."
