5.1 magnitude earthquake strikes Nicaraguan west coast, reportedly shaking buildings in Managua

A 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck near the west coast of the Central American nation of Nicaragua on Wednesday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). It caused several buildings in Nicaragua's capital to shake, witnesses said, APA reports citing Reuters.

The EMSC placed the epicentre at sea, 69 kilometres southwest from Managua, 67 km southwest of Jinotepe and 36 km southwest of the coastal town of Masachapa. The depth of the earthquake was 60 kilometres.

No casualties have yet been reported from the site.
