US President Biden referred to the situation at the border as a "crisis" for the first time since it has begun, while defending his administration's reversal on refugee policy the day before, APA reports quoting Sputnik..

Until now, the Biden administration has declined to label the drastic increase in migrant numbers, which reached 172,000 encounters in March alone, as a "crisis." Instead, he has referred to it as a "challenge," blaming it on the Trump administration's harsh migration and deportation policies.

"We’re going to increase the number [of refugees]," he told reporters after playing golf on Saturday. "The problem was that the refugee part was working on the crisis that ended up on the border with young people. We couldn’t do two things at once. But now we are going to increase the number."
