There is no active shooter at the US MacDill Air Force Base, ABC reported citing the Tampa police, dismissing previous reports of a gunman on the premises of the base, APA reports citing Express.co.uk.

However, officials have confirmed to local press that the base remains on lockdown, adding that gate traffic is currently open at the base.

Earlier, local media reported that gunshots had been heard in the vicinity of the base.
