The total number of infections with the coronavirus amounted to 35,022 in Mexico, reported the Mexican Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, APA reports citing Sputnik.

"Since February 28, the date on which we had the first confirmed case, we have already registered 35,022 people who contracted COVID-19 at one time and this was confirmed by laboratory, however, 8,457 of these people have contracted the virus in the last 14 days. And therefore, we take into consideration the people who at the moment have the ability to infect others and have active disease," López-Gatell said at a press conference.

He also reported that 3,465 people lost their lives from COVID-19 and the complications caused by that disease.

In total, he added, 130,956 suspected cases were studied, 75,955 of them tested negative for the coronavirus.
