The number of active drilling rigs in the United States increased by 10 to 254 this week, down by 662 year on year, according to the weekly data released Friday by Houston-based oilfield services company Baker Hughes, APA reports citing Xinhua.
These active drilling rigs included 183 oil rigs operating in the U.S. oil fields, up by 11 from the previous week; 69 gas drilling rigs, down by one from last week; and two miscellaneous rigs, unchanged from last week.
The 254 rigs included 240 land drilling rigs, up by 10 from the previous week, and 13 offshore drilling rigs and one inland water drilling rig, both unchanged from last week.
Of them, 20 are directional drilling rigs, 221 are horizontal drilling rigs and 13 are vertical drilling rigs.
During the week, the number of drilling rigs increased the most by eight in the state of Texas to 108 rigs.
