This was reported in a statement published on the website of the department.

“The directive of the CBW law (the law on the control of chemical and biological weapons and the prohibition of their combat use of 1991. - RT ) will come into force on August 26, 2019, after the period of notification of the congress,” the text says.

Earlier, the US State Department announced the introduction of a second package of sanctions against Russia in connection with the Skripale case.

The US Treasury explained that these sanctions do not apply to state-owned companies, measures apply only to ministries, agencies and the "sovereign fund."

The first package of sanctions was introduced by the United States in August 2018 and provided for restrictions, mainly related to the sale of weapons and dual-use products.
