US President Donald Trump instructed the administration to take measures to start a “new era” of arms control, going beyond the bilateral agreements of the past, APA reports citing the US State Department.

The effect of the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles (INF) is terminated from today at the initiative of the United States. Russia also suspended its participation in the treaty.

“President Trump instructed the administration to begin a new chapter and take action to begin a new era of arms control, going beyond the bilateral agreements of the past. In the future, the US calls on Russia and China to join us in this opportunity to achieve real security results for our countries and the whole world, ”the State Department said in a statement.

Washington announced a unilateral withdrawal from this agreement at the beginning of this year, citing abuses on the part of Russia. Moscow, which also has complaints about the fulfillment of the treaty by the United States, acted as a mirror.
