Argentina's President Alberto Fernandez hospitalized over back pain-UPDATED

Argentine President Alberto Fernandez has been taken to a hospital for treatment after suffering acute back pain, the president's doctors said in a statement on Tuesday, APA reports citing Sputnik.

"President Alberto Fernandez complained of acute pain in his lumbar spine, in connection to which he will undergo medical examination so that he can be given appropriate treatment," the doctors' statement read.

The president's doctors said in a statement that Fernandez was diagnosed with a lumbar hernia. "President Alberto Fernandez was examined and found to have a hernia in the lumbar spine," the statement read.

The president was prescribed appropriate treatment and rest, the doctors said.


According to the Presidential Medical Unit, Argentina's President Alberto Fernández has been hospitalized due to “acute lumbar pain” and will be undergoing medical studies in order to define a specific treatment, APA reports citing Buenos Aires Herald.

He is currently staying at the Otamendi Hospital in Recoleta.

This is not the first health issue for which the president has had to go to hospital. Fernández suffered from a hemorrhage in November 2022 in Bali during the G-20 summit and was replaced by Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero in his duties.

The brief communiqué concludes by saying that the public will continue to be informed as his condition evolves.

An official statement announced that the president has acute back pain.
