US President Joe Biden has named Karine Jean-Pierre as Assistant to the President and White House Press Secretary to replace Jen Psaki, who will leave the post on May 13, said the White House, APA reports.

Karine Jean-Pierre currently holds the position of First Deputy Press Secretary and Deputy Assistant to the President.

“Karin not only has the experience, talent, and integrity required for this challenging job, but she will continue to lead the way in spreading the word about the work of the Biden-Harris administration on behalf of the American people. Jill and I have known and respected Karin for a long time, and she will be a strong voice speaking for me and for this administration,” the American president said.

Biden also thanked Psaki for her work, emphasizing that she "raised the bar, communicated directly and truthfully with Americans while maintaining a sense of humor."

“I thank Jen for her service to the country and wish her all the best as she moves forward,” he stressed.
