U.S. President Joe Biden sent a letter to the relevant committee of the U.S. Congress on the entry of Sweden and Finland into NATO said the Press Service of the White House on July 2, APA reports citing RIA Novosti.

“I am submitting a report on the admission of the Kingdom of Sweden to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization,” Biden wrote in a letter. It is addressed to the chairmen of the committees.

A similar document on Finland’s accession to the Alliance was also submitted to the US Congress. According to the procedure, he must now ratify the decision to admit new members to NATO.

Finland and Sweden applied to join the North Atlantic Alliance in May 2022. The countries received invitations to join the military-political bloc during the Alliance summit, which took place in Madrid. As expected, Protocols on the admission of the two countries to the Alliance will be signed on July 5.
