Canada's health authorities approved on Thursday the use of Moderna's updated COVID-19 vaccine that targets both the Omicron and the original coronavirus variants, APA reports citing Teletrader.
Following a review carried out by Health Canada, the department confirmed Moderna's Spikevax booster shot is safe and effective, generating a "good immune response" against the Omicron subvariants. Health Canada also said it was still reviewing the shot developed by Pfizer and BioNTech.
The adjusted COVID-19 vaccines have already received approvals to be used as booster shots across the United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom.
