"We made good and constructive efforts together with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to achieve a fair and sustainable solution to the Cyprus issue," said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his speech at the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations, APA’s Istanbul correspondent reports citing Israeli media.

The Turkish President urged the international community to officially recognize the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and to stop the oppression of Turkish Cypriots, whom they are trying to cut off from the world with sanctions.

Erdogan urged Greece to hold off on provocations:

"Those who are showing force but are not equivalent to our country on a political or military level are embarrassing themselves. Sustaining peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean depends on respect for all sides. We expect Greece to put aside the policy of tension and provocation and listen to our calls for cooperation and solidarity," Erdogan said.
