Heavy rains which struck Haiti over the weekend left 42 people dead and 11 missing, according to official government estimates, APA reports citing Teletrader.
The floods are also said to have caused extensive material damage, with the United Nations further noting that approximately 37,000 people were affected, with 13,400 displaced.
"Although it is not a hurricane or a tropical storm, the damage observed in the affected areas is considerable," Jean-Martin Bauer, UN coordinator of humanitarian action in Haiti, said, according to France 24.
