The Secret Service fatally shot an intruder at the home of the Peruvian ambassador in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday morning, police said, APA reports citing NBC News.

Two uniformed Secret Service officers first used Tasers to try to detain the man who was armed with a "metal stake" and had been smashing windows of the residence, D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee told reporters.

In a tweet, the agency said that its officers shot "a reported intruder" at a residence in the 3000 block of Garrison Street NW “following a confrontation” just before 8 a.m. There were no officers injured in the incident, the Secret Service said.
