Southwest Airlines CEO Bob Jordan confirmed on Wednesday the company likely won't deploy its Boeing MAX 7 planes in 2023 as it awaits certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), APA reports citing Teletrader.

"We are not counting on it to be in service in 2023," Jordan told the press, hinting the plane could be in service early next year since the carrier needs at least half a year to prepare the deployment from the moment the FAA greenlights it.

The 737 MAX 7 is one of the variants of the Boeing 737 MAX family, labeled as one of the fastest-selling aircraft in the planemaker's history.
