State Department: U.S not focused on negotiations with Russia, but on military assistance for Kyiv

At this stage, the Washington administration is not focused on negotiations with the Russian Federation, but on military assistance for Ukraine, said Karen Donfried, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at a special briefing on Friday, APA reports.

"We are convinced that diplomacy will put an end to this conflict. However, Russia has shown that it is not ready for negotiations. We hold regular talks with our Ukrainian partners. Today, we are focused on strengthening Ukraine's position on the battlefield so that when the time comes, it will have as much influence on the negotiating table as possible," Karen Donfried said.

U.S wanted the war to end as soon as possible, she said.
