ByteDance Ltd.'s TikTok will inform the United States Congress that it now has 150 million users in that country, NBC News said on Monday, citing a senior Democratic strategist advising the company, APA reports.

The outlet claimed TikTok's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shou Zi Chew will share the information during his testimony before the House Energy and Commerce Committee, scheduled for Thursday. Back in 2020, the application said it had 100 million daily active users in the US.

Shou Zi Chew will testify before the committee amid the calls by various US lawmakers to have TikTok banned in the country over concerns the app collects personal data and then passes it over to the Chinese government.
