"We are facing threats to human rights, peace, and sustainable development all over the world," said Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary-General at the opening of the 77th session of the organization, APA reports.

"Eternal solidarity is vital to address conflict, climate change, a failing financial system, poverty, inequality, hunger, and hatred," the secretary-general said.

From next Monday, the heads of state and government will be able to address the session. The death of British Queen Elizabeth II did not seriously affect the agenda of the session.

An education summit will be held on Monday with the participation of 90 heads of state and government. The Secretary-General will not be able to attend the queen's funeral due to the session.
