United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken condemned the recent escalation of tensions in self-proclaimed Kosovo on Friday, after its police used force to gain entry into municipal buildings in the northern part of Kosovo, mostly populated by ethnic Serbs, APA reports citing Teletrader.

"We call on Prime Minister Albin Kurti to reverse course and on all sides to refrain from any further actions that will inflame tensions and promote conflict," Blinken stressed in the statement, underscoring that the Kosovo government took actions "against the advice of the United States" and its "European partners."

"These actions have sharply and unnecessarily escalated tensions, undermining our efforts to help normalize relations between Kosovo and Serbia and will have consequences for our bilateral relations with Kosovo," Blinken underscored.
