US goods trade deficit up to $101B in December

The international trade deficit in the United States increased to $101.0 billion in December, going up by 3.0% or $2.9 billion in comparison to the previous month, the US Census Bureau stated in its preliminary report published on Wednesday, APA reports citing Teletrader.

Exports of goods increased by $2.2 billion since November to $157.3 billion, while imports went up by $5.1 billion in the same period to reach $258.3 billion.

Wholesale inventories, adjusted for seasonal variations, but not for price changes came in at $789.4 billion, up by 2.1% month-on-month and 18.3% year-on-year. Meanwhile, seasonally adjusted retail inventories stood at $643.8 billion, rising by 4.4% on a monthly level and 3.8% annually.
